On October 24, 2022, the implementation of the grant project “Civil Protection with Voluntary Fire Brigades (VFB) for partner communities of the USAID Hoverla Project” began. The aim of the project is to improve the civil defence system in the partner communities of the USAID Hoverla project in Volyn, Lviv and Poltava Oblasts through the development of regulations of local self-government bodies, training and support in the creation of voluntary fire brigades.
The project analyses the civil protection situation in 25 communities, organizes training visits for community representatives to the Rivne Oblast to study the experience of volunteer fire brigades.
To train members of voluntary fire brigades (approximately 12 people from each community), a set of specialized training events is held.
The project also provides for modelling the civil protection system at the local level, including by preparing drafts of relevant decisions. The project is funded by the Governance and Local Accountability (HOVERLA) USAID project.
