After the outbreak of a full-scale war, the Fund launched extensive humanitarian activities in response to the current needs of partners of local self-government bodies of Ukraine. The most frequent requests are medical equipment and medicines, housing, personal care products and detergents, food, fire and rescue equipment. The Fund, with the support of donors, has developed and implemented an effective humanitarian aid system that includes needs analysis, procurement, logistics (storage and transportation), distribution, and transfer of aid in Ukraine. The slogan of the Fund’s humanitarian activities is #SolidaritySavesLives. To date, the Fund has provided assistance to local communities in the amount of more than 10 million euros.
The Fund’s humanitarian assistance is combined with its development programmes in Ukraine, support for strengthening the social assistance system at the local level, and the civil defence system, including the development of voluntary fire brigades. Therefore, the main partners of the Fund in Ukraine, in addition to ministries, are local authorities and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
